The POWER OF

HIGH EXPECTATIONS

A platform for teens by teens

What would motivate teenagers to build businesses, volunteer hundreds of days in the community with no reward, work for countless hours every day on top of school, all in an attempt to build a community without the promise of any support at all? Most people's response to this would be, "What would motivate teenagers to do anything at all?"  Instead of laughing off this answer and accepting that all humans between the ages of 12 and 19 are doomed to crippling angst and rebelliousness regardless of who they are, we looked at real teenagers. As it turns out, teens are capable of a lot more than some adults let on.

We've seen teenagers start businesses, build robots, share their passions through outreach, and much more. Still, those same kids' parents are asked, "Are they getting... difficult yet?"

Our answer to that was manifested in the Beyond the Box Movement, a non-profit organization created and run by teens centered around volunteering, collaborating with professionals, and attending and hosting events. We want to give teens a voice that is heard with high expectations rather than the negative ones many teens face.

"Today's teens are tomorrow's adults, so accepting them as valuable members of our communities is crucial to our world in the future"
